This is a practical introduction to intaglio printmaking using carborundum. It is an acid-free process where different grades of carborundum grit as well as chalk are individually mixed with acrylic emulsion and applied with a paintbrush, dragged with a rag, flicked, or pushed around on an acetate plate to make an image. When dry, the plate is inked and printed similarly to an etching plate.
